Another deployment

Warning .. Sappy post ahead.

Please hug your spouses, children and best friends tight today. I forget about all the little things. I know its only a year and I know that the beginning is the worst part but I miss my Mr and the girls miss their daddy. We miss our buddy. The first few days were just unbearable. I don't know what it is... Maybe some of you can relate... But pulling up to an empty house, knowing he isn't coming home that night or for the next year. Every deployment, its always the same that first few days. I just can't take it. So me and the kids just stayed in, watched Netflix and cuddled. We slept on the couch cuddled up for the first few days. Then that weekend we left for a friends house a couple hours away. I knew we needed to get out of the house but even the thought of the drive and staying the weekend was sad since we always go as a family. It was refreshing to be out of the house and around friend. Oh and did I mention Saturday was valentines. Sucker Punch to the gut. But to be honest... It wasn't that bad. My friend and I had picked up some valentines for the girls, she even surprised me with a box of chocolates :') and her husband made some delicious waffles. Then Sunday came and we had to head home and try to get there before an impending winter storm. We made it home just as the snow started and once again, pulling up to the empty house had me in tears. :/ the storm hit pretty hard. Snow and ice. My kiddos and I were stuck in the house for a week and a half. It was kind of nice to have that time to veg and spend time together.

We're approximately 3 weeks in now. My oldest is registered for another season of soccer and we are doing much better. Obviously there are still crappy days but just like previous deployments... We will be fine!
Keeping busy is key! Stay tuned for more deployment related posts. I.e. care package ideas ;)
